Today was a milestone in the exciting journey that is #HS2. Today, the Birmingham campus of the National College for High Speed Rail was officially launched by Paul Maynard MP, Minister for Rail; Sir Terry Morgan, Chairman of Crossrail; Andy Street, Mayor of the West Midlands and Clair Mowbray, CEO of the College.
CONNECT members from A-Plant, Fortel, Morson and HILTI were amongst invited guests who were privileged to attend, viewing these amazing facilities at first hand, taking part in demonstrations on virtual reality and of course seeing the star of the show, #Brumstar, the college's very own high speed train located in full view of passers by.
Sir Terry spoke about the skills challenge in the UK and how we can play our part in tackling it. He spoke about how a lady had crossed over the street this morning to call in and enquire as to how she could find out more abour registering both her son and daughter as apprentices, she was so 'wowed' by what she saw and felt so compelled to act and not miss out on this opportunity for her children.
This is part of what makes HS2 so exciting as a project. It is truly striving to make a difference to the companies and the communities it touches and desires to leave the world and the lives of those who live in it a better place. Thank you HS2 for your inspirational vision - we are enjoying playing our part in making it a reality!
