VGC Group

VGC Group delivers people, projects and services to the construction and rail industries. Its divisions operate in all types of civil engineering environments, including roads and bridges, airports, nuclear facilities, utilities, and mainline and underground rail. As well as being one of the largest labour and staff suppliers to the UK’s construction and rail companies, it also undertakes rail and construction contracts.

VGC is all about people – internally, and also the many customers that it supports. It invests in the skills development of its people to encourage all staff to achieve lifelong qualifications. Programmes in place include apprenticeships, ICE approved graduate development schemes and technical skill development.

VGC is a member of the 5% Club and its training division was graded ‘outstanding’ by the National Skills Academy for Rail (NSAR). It works closely with the communities in which it works to deliver programmes to support its equality, diversity and inclusion agenda. It wants to encourage new entrants to the industry and increase participation from local communities. Programmes in place include secondary schools engagement programmes, women in construction and local employment targets. VGC was recently awarded a sustainability award from Crossrail for maximising employment opportunities on the project.

Safety is central to everything VGC delivers. Its systems are fully accredited to OHSAS 18001 and have various programmes in place to encourage continuous improvement and partipication from the workforce. Current programmes include a behavioural based safety programme called ‘Be Safe by Choice’, to encourage a step change in safety culture and the ‘See it, share it’ campaign to encourage participation and communication.

With labour frameworks in place for Costain, Skanska, Kier, Morgan Sindall, BAM Nuttall, Laing O'Rourke, Siemens and Balfour Beatty and decades of experience of delivering staffing solutions on complex major infrastructure projects, VGC has the capability, experience and knowledge to support partners in delivering the workforce for the HS2 project.
